...Recall the HORROR, Uninhabited
The Uninhabited....more like the Unimaginative, this film tells the story of Beth & Harry a couple who go to a remote desert island for a camping holiday only to come to realise their not alone.
This film is based around a small cast of actors, being Beth & Harry as the main two characters with a handful of supporting charters thrown in for good measure here and there. So it goes that Beth & Harry arrive at this remote desert island and fall in love with the island (I cant blame them their the island is truly breath taking for what it is), and after a few days on the island start to incur strange occurrence, footprints in the sand (which are not theirs, footsteps in the night and things being moved, all staples of a basic horror film. Now the trouble with this film is that it never gets going, no tension is built up, no real emotion from the actors are shown basically nothing happens, to be honest I don't even know why this is classed as a horror film ? it doesn't even belong in the thriller category as fare as I'm concerned, even the boss (my fiancée) who has no real interest in horror films was questing its credentials. So the film carry's along at its slow pace until we get to the point at which we find out that its a ghost named coral that is supposedly haunting the island, taking revenge on any one who comes to island after the terrible incident that happened to her their. After this is revealed with again no real emotion or surprise the film carry's along at is slow pace until the conclusion of the film, which again...I don't even have no words for. In my opinion this film makes a really lame case to present its self as a horror film or even a bottom of the line thriller, the only real thing that stood out about this film was the island itself, everything else completely forgettable! I really wouldn't bother with this one for a lazy rainy Sunday afternoon film.
IMDB gave this film a 4.3, I personally think that's being pretty generous! I would give this film a 1 or possibly 2 at most and that's just for the island setting.
My Scream Rating 1 out of 5...again just for the island setting.
